  INTRODUCTION

The BMW Owners’ Club of South Australia was formed on the 14th of July 1958 and currently has approximately 80 members.

It is open to anyone who owns, or has owned, a BMW motorcycle, motorcar, or aeroplane engine. The Club’s activities centre around motorcycles, although some members also own BMW cars.

Club members collectively own a vast range of machines – an active historic register as well as new models.

The Club's logo on this page, comprises 3 Sturt Pea flowers (our State's Flora emblem) over an artists representation combining the flat K series motor (LHS) and the boxer-engine piston (RHS).

1923 R32-first BMW Motorcycle completely built by BMW

The 1923 BMW R32 motorcycle was a 500 cc cycle designed by Max Friz. Earlier models created by the company, including the Flink (148 cc) and the Helios (500 cc), were chain driven. BMW even experimented with a belt driven cycle before determining that shaft-drive was the most effective and reliable way to power a motorcycle.
